all work and no play makes jack a dull bastard
Recycled scans from a night at The Pour House in Raleigh, NC. The band used a couple photos from this roll as a part of their website masthead like this. I still have negatives that I need to digitize and do over. These guys rock, btw.
I tweaked the layout a bit to accommodate posting via flickr. Now it's wide enough for 500px wide images.
Last night was funny. One of my friends told me that I'm too old for Chapel Hill. I think they said that because they'd rather me come hang out with them in Durham where we would do the same things. I didn't buy it. The Dead Mule is my favorite place to have a beer or whiskey, but only if it's warm enough to sit outside on the deck. I like the Carolina Brewery for their IPA and a good bite to eat. The Cellar is like the drain in the tub. Everyone seems to end up there. Johno said it's a 12-2 kind of place. There's either 12 guys to every girl, or from 12-2 it is wall to wall girls. Last night was no exception.
Big and muscular with little fat on his body, police said he is in remarkably good shape for someone his age who has apparently lived in the woods for at least several years. “He’s a pro. He knows what he’s doing,” Cleveland said. Only items needed for survival — clothes, sleeping bags, food and batteries — were taken during the burglaries, with the thief leaving behind valuables like jewelry and electronics, the sheriff said. This guy is one tough (56 year old) man - "a testament to human adaptability."

A horror film staring sheep as the villains. I love it. Could this be the next SOAP? Probably not, but the trailer is pretty funny. Link
I started using Flickr.com to post photos. The URL is http://www.flickr.com/photos/michaelrupert/
*Update: The maps feature is really cool. You can geotag your photos (this isn't new, but sort of new to me). I tagged some of mine and the URL is http://www.flickr.com/photos/michaelrupert/map/. They aren't exact coordinates. I used the drag and drop on the map method to tag these, but if you have the exact GPS coordinates, you can enter them instead.
Take a look at these incredible pictures of a huge sea (waves) overtaking a tanker ship. The perfect storm, gonna need a bigger boat, etc... Link
You know that suspicious scary package at the Port of Miami that the Coast Guard said tested positive 6 times for C4 explosives? Yeah, it's harmless. Pat Robertson must be disappointed. Link
NEW YORK (CNN) -- New York officials evacuated a number of buildings and shut down some trains after a mysterious gaslike odor was reported Monday. Link
I upgraded my living room this morning with two new couches. It is rainy today. I will probably do nothing more the rest of the day but rest. Maggie is doing the same with a new view out the front window. Cheers to new furniture and lazy Sundays.
*Update: The video was removed from YouTube by the poster...Apparently Shine, Raleigh, Shine has lost its luster. You can find a quicktime version here.
Here are a few lyrics:
Education rocks
Innovation rolls
Imaginations going wild
We fascinate
We invigorate
‘Til we see everybody smile
This video is enough to turn stomachs. People who live in Raleigh must be proud of this gem. Shine on you crazy diamond!

I'm back at work again after a nice visit with family in Florida that included a fine kayak adventure. It is a little sad to be back in the corporate world. Maybe that will change soon...maybe even work will be an adventure.
